Mouse is slow moving across points

It is slow to move the mouse cursor over Civil 3D Points in the drawing

If you are getting frustrated with a jerky mouse action on the screen when you have points in the drawing, there is a way you can get the smooth action back. The problem is that AutoCAD Civil 3D is stopping to give you some great rollover tooltips about the point - it takes a while to tell you about the Style and Layer. If you sacrifice these from the rollover tooltip, all is well.

Here is how you do it:

  • Type CUI in the commandline and the Customer User Interface will open.
  • On the left hand side go to where it says Rollover Tooltips and select it,
  • On the right hand side toy will see a list of components (eg Alignment, Assembly, Cogo Point), click on Cogo Point,
  • From there you will see a new column of data starting with Information- In Information untick Style,
  • Then go down to General and untick Layer as well, these are the 2 items that are making your mouse drag when moving over the points.
  • Once this has been done you will be able freely move your mouse over any point as well as still get the Tooltip information that you need to show when hovering over a point.
  • Click on the OK button and get out of the CUI.

Once this is done you should have smooth mouse action again.
