After an install of an Autodesk product, you find that you are getting a message saying PRODUCT LICENSE - OUT OF TIME, License checkout timed out. What do you want to do?

This is a licensing issue and if you follow the procedure below, you will reset the licensing and your Autodesk product should be able to be licensed and run
  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing.
  2. Run the exe as administrator (right-click > Run as administrator). Wait until all the files and folders disappear.
  3. Navigate back to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\.
  4. Right-click on theAutodesk Shared folder and select Properties > Security.
  5. Verify that "Users" and "LOCAL SERVICE" have Full controlpermissions assigned. If not, click ".." to add them both and then select the Full control checkbox for each of them.
  6. Go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\AdskLicensingServiceand remove the files inside.
  7. Navigate back to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk.
  8. Right-click on the folder AdskLicensingService Properties Security.
  9. Make sure that "Users" and "LOCAL SERVICE" have Full controlpermissions assigned. If not, click ".." to add them both and then select the Full control checkbox for each of them.
  10. Open Windows Services (click Start > type msc> press ENTER).
  11. Find the service Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service, right-click on it and click Stop and then Start (or click Start if the service was not running).
