The Pit Type Keeps Changing!

Q: After assigning a particular Pit Type to a pit that is attached to a Road, you notice that the software CHANGES the applied pit type to another pit.  Why?
A: The software has been set up to automatically cycle through pit types within a family, if the pit is attached to a Road.  When a pit is attached to a Road, ARD looks at the Road Longitudinal Slope (%) applied to each Pit Type in the family, and then finds and applies the pit type most closely matching the actual Road centreline grade at that location.
So, to ensure that the right pit type is applied user can:
  • Separate the pits into different Pit Families to stop the cycling nature
  • Set appropriate Road Longitudinal Slope (%) values for each Pit Type to take advantage of the search and assign tool in ARD Pipes

This behaviour has been persistent since the initial release of ARD Pipes.

The request for disable the cycling through Pit Types is on the ARD Bugs and Improvements List for consideration in future product updates.
