How can I plot cross sections to show my kerb returns and cul-de-sac?

You have run Auto Model (or used Model Builder), but you don't see the intersections in the cross section outputs.  By default, when you plot cross sections for a string you see the cross sections of that string in isolation - not the cross sections of a model.

During plotting, you need to use the command "ADD MODEL/SURFACE", to extract sections from the automatic road model (or any other model you've built using the Model Builder command).

To do this, in your cross section plot options:

  • Go to the ROW OPTIONS tab, select SET ROW INFORMATION.
  • Remove the "Surface,Design.." entry (which shows cross sections from the template)
  • Replace it with the option "ADD MODEL/SURFACE" - this allows you to extract sections directly from a design model. Pick Auto Model if you haven't manually created a model and have used the Auto Model command.

Note that the subgrade is related to the string sections only - you would need to modify this in the sections where kerb returns, cul-de-sacs, knuckles and roundabouts are showing.  Or you could opt to remove the row for the subgrade.

Applies to ARD V13 and later.
