When a pit is attached to a road, the Pit Type is assigned based on the Road Longitudinal Grade. Every time you make a Pit Type in a Pit Family, you assign a Road Longitudinal Grade. When a Pit is attached to a Road, the software cycles through all the Pit Types and chooses the one with a Road Longitudinal Grade that best matches the actual road grade at that location. There is no way to disable this functionality. We recommend that customers make Pit Families that describe the pit type and geometry, and use the Pit Type to describe the different pit inflow capabilities for the different road grades.
