Drawing flickering after installing AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 Update 1
Posted by - NA - on 30 September 2010 10:40 AM
Q: After installing the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 Update 1, my drawing screen and cursor flickers whenever I move the mouse.

A: The update appears to reset your 3D performance settings to an undesirable level. To resolve this, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to OPTIONS either by right-clicking the drawing space and selecting 'Options' or by running the OP command.
  2. Go to the System tab and click the 'Performance Settings' button.
  3. Click the 'Manual Tune' button.
  4. At the bottom of the Manual Performance Tuning page, click 'Reset to Recommended Values' button. This should turn on some or all of the Current Effects listed at the top of the page.
  5. Click the OK buttons until you are back at the main drawing screen again. The flickering issue should be resolved.

This solution worked. I have a project due and the flickering scared the #%&^## out of me. I should have picked a better time to install an update - not right before a critical deadline. Thanks!!
