The Pit Type Keeps Changing!

Q: After assigning a particular Pit Type to a pit that is attached to a Road, you notice that the software CHANGES the applied pit type to another pit. Why? A: The software has been set up to automatically cycle through pit types within a family, if the pit is attached to a Road. When a pit is attached to a Road, ARD looks at the Road Longitudinal Slope (%) applied to each Pit Type in the family, and then finds and applies the pit type most closely matching the actual Road centreline grade at that location.
